The rescue started

Just a note for those who may confuse this with news of the recent earthquake in Japan: these great photos are of the panda rescue effort following the May 2008 earthquake in China. It's been 3 years now since the event happened!

The earthquake took place exactly in the area populated by giant pandas.
Most bears have been rescued. A particular attention was given to teddy bears. Everyone was worried and the babies were scared.

The pictures were taken just after the earthquake and during rescue operations.

the experience that brought them together

After all pandas were released into the wild, it was noted that they continued to stay together, which is unusual, they are known as solitary animals.
